INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF PLANET EARTH
A global initiative endorsed by UNESCO, with supporting Official Publications
How we view our planet's diminishing resources, and how we respond, offers a huge challenge to international governments, industries, businesses and consumers in the twenty-first century.
This challenge has been acknowledged in particular by the General Assembly of the United Nations by designating 2008 & 2009 as the International Year of Planet Earth. This global initiative, currently supported by 82 nations, will direct international attention to focus upon the state of our planet's resources and environment, and to put policies and actions in place that will positively affect the sustainability of our resources, the enhancement of international trade and prosperity, and the future of our planet.
